TIMBER VENETIAN BLINDS
Direct and Filter the light where you want it
One of the benefits of Timber Venetians is the ability to retain some degree of privacy but to have light coming in. This can be directed to where you most want it to protect floor coverings from sun damage but still be able to see out.
Enhance your decor with the warmth of wood
Timber blinds look a million dollars when coupled with timber floors and other timber furniture. To walk in to a home with timber gives a real feeling of warmth and homeliness.
Variety of Colours and Styles
Timber venetians come in a number of different colours and types of timber. The original being western red cedar is still popular and goes well with cedar shutters. These blinds usually have thicker slats and cedar by its nature is often multi coloured timber. They are also available as a painted finish in usually white or alabaster which look great in the homes with all white walls etc as is currently a trend.
Also available as Eco Blinds
These blinds are also available in what is known as eco material which is much easier to clean and will not split and warp as much as timber can. In some situations where there is a particularly warm area the eco slats can warp as well but you should rely on my advice.
Negative side of venetians
If there is a negative to venetians it would be the cleaning which needs to be done regularly. If you have cedar blinds which have been oiled, they need to be oiled again every year or so to preserve their appearance. If they have been lacquered they may show signs of crazing over time and a yellowing of the lacquer.
In some cases they are used on sliding doors. I often advise this is not the best product for that as they will hang down to a degree in the opening unless mounted up high above the door. They would also suffer more wear and tear as they are up and down a lot. There are better alternatives.
Fashionable and Practical
Regardless of your personal needs timber venetians are still a popular choice when wanting to do away with curtains or in addition to curtains and still have versatility when required.
TIMBER BLIND CUTTING SERVICE
If you are buying blinds that are ready made or 'off the shelf', they may well be too big for your windows. Have your blinds cut to size at a fraction of the cost of custom made blinds. Please bear in mind that the quality will generally differ and you only get what you pay for. This is more to do with the controls rather than the slats etc. Many companies use these imported blinds as their custom made blinds anyway.
Please note that I cannot cut down custom made timber venetians as the controls are generally right at the ends.
